Get into the holiday spirit in the quaint Village of Granville with the Village Tree Lighting and Christmas Candlelight Walking Tour. Homes and businesses will also be participating in a Christmas Light contest, so you can be sure to see some beautifully decorated properties through the whole holiday season.
Events have been planned to make them as safe as possible, and spread out over a couple of days to reduce the amount of visitors per day. As such, all events are subject to change throughout this season, so check links before you attend.
Granville Village Tree Lighting
On Sunday, November 29th, we will gather together to kick off the holiday season with the official lighting of the Granville Christmas Tree at 5:45 pm. The tree is located at the median on Broadway west of Main. Cookies and hot cocoa will be provided.
There will also be a virtual option for those wishing to stay home. Follow the Facebook event page for changed and/or virtual option.
Granville Candlelight Walking Tour
Formally a one-day event, the annual Christmas Candlelight event will be held on Saturdays, December 5 and December 12, to reduce crowds.
A tradition for 35 years, the sidewalks on Broadway, Prospect, and Main Streets will be lined with glimmering Christmas trees.
A Christmas Craft Market will be held from 2-6 p.m. in Opera House Park on December 5 and 12.
Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered up and down Broadway, starting in front of St. Luke’s Church on both days of the Walking Tour from 5 pm – 9 pm.
Santa in Granville
There will be no parade in 2020, and Santa and Mrs. Claus can’t make in-person visits. Santa will drive through the village and Granville neighborhoods in the afternoon on December 5. A map will be released closer to the date.
They are planning a way for Granville children to have virtual visits with Santa via Zoom for a short chat. Details and registration tba.
