Mitchell’s Berries mourns passing of Farmer Paul; Offering U-pick strawberries, blooms, and asparagus

Mitchell’s Berries LLC, located in Plain City, is a destination you’ll want to put on your Spring and Summer bucket list.

With strawberries and a variety of raspberries (u-pick depending on crop availability each year), plus special farm events, this family farm is a fun place for all ages.

I am saddened to read, while updating this article, that Farmer Paul was killed in a tractor accident this May. Upick is still being offered, but please check website, the Facebook page, or call to verify in case changes are made while they work through this tragedy. 

Crop availability and u-pick varies, so check on the website or Facebook page for updates, or call the number listed below. It’s always important to check the day you intend to go, as weather and crowds can affect availability hour to hour.

Details for expected crop dates will be update in Spring, once availability can be determined. Mitchell’s Berries uses both organic and conventional products to fight disease, weeds and bugs to produce high quality produce.

Crops and U-pick at Mitchell’s Berries 

As of May 12, 2026, they have daffodils, peonies, asparagus, and strawberries available for upick. Strawberries require an appointment. 

Below dates are just guidelines. Winter and current weather have an effect on crops, so always check the Facebook page before visiting to see what is available. 

Daffodils: Visit the daffodils for pictures and picking in mid-April
Asparagus: April/May
Strawberries: U-pick usually begins middle of May
U-pick Peonies: Expected end of May – early June
U-pick Purple Raspberries: typically in mid/late June
U-pick Red Raspberries: typically in mid/late June

The Meadow:  An acre and a half of a color explosion of summer hues of orange, reds, pinks, yellow and white  in mid-July to mid-August. Perfect for flower photo ops. Pick your own bouquet or one of our Bloom events.  A photographers paradise.

One thing that sets Mitchell’s Berries apart from other area farms is that they offer so many fun, special events throughout the season. Some book up quickly, so sign up when available if required. 

Daffodil Picking

 Late March thru mid-May over 10 thousand bulbs come to life in stunning hues of gold, yellow, cream, salmon, pink and white.  Extraordinary shapes of double, frilly, ruffly and fancy daffodils create a unique backdrop. Pick your own bouquets, experience a bloom event, or choose to pick up our Bloom Bundle pick especially for you. Details here. 

Peony Picking

Peonies are available for picking in May. Check website for picking times/availability
