The Stratford Ecological Center in Delware is celebrating Maple Sugar Season with a few special events. Reservations are required for all events.
On February 16 and 23, 2019 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., you can take a 1 hour guided hike on the sugar shack trail to learn all about the sugaring process, from tapping a tree and collecting sap, to learning about the evaporation process and tasting the finished product. The cost is $4 per person; tours begin every 1/2 hour until noon. Advanced reservation required.
On Saturday, March 2, 2019, they will host a Pancake Breakfast at Stratford, along with a guided tour of the sugar bush. For $10 (adults) and $5 children (ages 2-12), you’ll enjoy homemade whole wheat pancakes, Stratford sausage, and local maple syrup, followed by a hike along the creek to the sugar shack, learning all about the sugaring process. Seating must be reserved between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Spots will fill up fast!
