Donations to food pantries are highest around the holidays and through winter months, but the donations decrease during spring and summer. The need for food donations is a constant though – especially in summertime when kids in need don’t have access to free lunches at school.
Help your local community on Saturday, May 11, by leaving a bag a non-perishable food near your mailbox to help the annual Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger Campaign. Your local letter carrier will pick up the bag and deliver it to the local food bank or pantry, where it will help those in your own community. Last year 75 million pounds of food was collected, and they hope this year will be even better.
Please included non-expired, non-perishable goods that are NOT stored in jars. For more information, check out the website.
