Ways to spend Mother’s Day
How you spend Mother’s Day will probably depend on whether you are a mom yourself, or if you live near your mom. We’ve gathered some ideas on how to honor motherhood, safely. We are at the point where its up to families to decide what is safe for them for gatherings, taking into consideration health issues, vaccinations, and exposure risk.
If you can’t spend in person time with your mom, here are some ideas that we gathered in 2020 that would still work in 2021. If you can be outside, risk is determined to be very low outside.
If you live near your mom…
- Drop something special off for her, even if you can’t come in and spend time together. Whether its a gift, great meal, plants, flowers, wine, baked goods – you know what makes your mom happy.
- Do some outdoor yard work for her. Mow, mulch, weed, plant flowers for her.
- Have a picnic. Make or pick up an amazing meal and have picnic in her (or your) front yard.
- CALL HER! Facetime, Zoom, or chat with her with your preferred video app. Text or email is not enough for Mother’s Day.
- Ask her what she needs. Like, what she REALLY needs as a mother. Does she need to talk to you more frequently? Does she need food or household items picked up?
If you live far away from your mom…
- Get your gift in the mail! Delivery can still be a little slow, so leave extra time.
- Order her a meal from a restaurant near her. If you can’t find any restaurants in her area that are offering delivery, check with bakeries.
- Send a sweet treat (some of our options above will ship)
- Send her a gift certificate so that you can dine together when you are comfortable with that.
- CALL HER! Facetime, Zoom, or chat with her with your preferred video app. Text or email is not enough for Mother’s Day.
- Ask her what she needs. Like, what she REALLY needs as a mother. Does she need to talk to you more frequently? Does she need anything at the house that she doesn’t want to go out to pick up?
