Fire Prevention Week is October 6-12, 2019 and Westerville Division of Fire is wrapping it up with WFD’s annual Fire Prevention Open House on Sunday, October 13 from 1-4 pm at all 3 fire stations.
At Station 111, located at 400 W. Main St., fire experts will demonstrate various types of recommended fire alarms and also how to clean bathroom exhaust fans
-Kids will love the Touch-a-Truck with all vehicles on display at the fire stations. They can climb on, climb in, and learn about the ladder truck, rescue engine, and medic vehicles.
-Station tours will reveal how and where the firefighters live while on 24-hour duty when they aren’t fighting fires, plus you can meet and greet Westerville’s brave medics and firefighters.
-The Safety Bunch Show is a series of safety skits and WFD’s puppet troupe “The Safety Bunch”. Kids will love learning fire safety tips from the show!
The theme for this Fire Prevention Week is “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” The message aims to teach everyone small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.

Need new fire alarms?
The Westerville Division of Fire is partnering with the American Red Cross to offer free smoke detectors and installation for Westerville and Blendon Township families. You call, they’ll install.
Call (614) 901-6600 to schedule your appointment and a Westerville Fire Division team member will visit your home to install your brand new smoke detector free of charge.
If you live outside of those townships and you are in need of working smoke detectors or installation, please contact your local fire department to see if they have a program that can help.
