This is a guest post from a friend and reader who wanted to share how awesome this facility is for dog boarding. She is one of the most discerning dog owners that I know, who will only accept the best for her dog. If she loves it, I know it’s a great place. This is not an advertisement; boarding services rendered were paid for in full (multiple times).
As a devoted pet parent to Bear, my apprehensive Boxer, finding a trustworthy and enriching boarding facility has always been paramount, especially given his separation anxiety. Our search led us to Joel Slaven’s Dog Lodge, nestled in the serene landscapes of Alexandria, Ohio. This haven has since become Bear’s cherished retreat, offering top-notch care and all of the amenities that cater to his every need.
Unmatched Facilities and Amenities
From the moment we arrived, it was evident that Joel Slaven’s Dog Lodge is designed with canine comfort at its core. The expansive, climate-controlled kennels provide Bear with ample space to relax, complemented by indoor and outdoor access that satisfies his desire to bathe in the sun all day.
We did a lot of research and found this perk to be very unique in comparison to many Columbus kennels. Joel was clear that he did not want to compromise on comfort for the dogs staying with him and he definitely did not compromise when designing his facilities.
A Natural Wonderland for Play and Relaxation
The lodge’s sprawling 22-acre property is a canine paradise. The facility has a 3-acres of fenced pasture for dogs to run around safely and experience playtime with other dogs.
When Bear had his first stay at the Lodge, Joel and Jackie explained that they have their own dog, Casper, that they test each dog with to see temperament and personality. This provides a baseline for them and helps them pair dogs together that would enjoy running together.
They purposefully take small groups of dogs out together for exercise so they can work with the dogs and support their activity. Bear is really only interested in sniffing every square inch outside – so they paired him with similar dogs, which reduced his anxiety and enabled him to enjoy his many sniff walks. The location is also hidden from any busy roads and is a quiet, serene spot to enjoy the outdoors.
Expert Care and Attention
What sets Joel Slaven’s Dog Lodge apart is the genuine affection and individualized attention each dog receives. Joel and his dedicated team of trainers are EXPERTS! You will not find another group more experienced – it is a lifestyle for them, not just a job.
Please read the “About” section on website to fully understand the extent of training experience Joel and Jackie have – it is impressive (Zoos, TV shows, etc)! This level of dedication provides immense peace of mind, knowing Bear is in compassionate and capable hands when he is boarding there.
Home away from home for dogs
Joel Slaven’s Dog Lodge has become more than just a boarding facility for Bear; it’s his home away from home. For pet owners seeking a nurturing and stimulating environment for their furry companions, Joel Slaven’s Dog Lodge stands as a beacon of excellence.
