Housed in a restored 1908 firehouse, the Central Ohio Fire Museum & Learning Center is a hidden gem in downtown Columbus. It’s such a fun place to take kids, and it’s perfect for when you just want to spend an hour or two.
Located at 260 N. 4th St., the museum is dedicated to preserving the history of firefighting in Central Ohio while educating children and families about fire safety and prevention. Engine House #16 was the last fire station built to house the horse-drawn steam engines.
Visitors can explore antique fire trucks, historic equipment, and life-size exhibits that showcase how firefighting has evolved over time. The museum’s interactive safety education space helps teach kids how to react in emergency situations and how to prevent fires in their homes.
