Johnson's Real Ice Cream opening 3 new stores

Johnson’s Real Ice Cream is marking 75 sweet years with a community celebration at its original Bexley shop (2728 E. Main St.) on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The anniversary event features a full day of family fun, live music, and plenty of ice cream – plus a discount at other local scoop shops that day!

Event Highlights

11 a.m. – 5 p.m.: Free activities in the lot, including a slide, kiddie play yard, and carnival games
11 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Free balloon twisting
11 a.m. – 9 p.m.: Memory Booth – share your favorite Johnson’s story via QR code
Noon: Ice Cream Eating Contest, hosted by ABC6/WTTE’s Alissa Henry, benefitting A Kid Again of Central Ohio ($5 suggested donation; registration opens Aug. 29 at Johnson’s Bexley; kids’ contests also offered)
1 – 5 p.m.: Free face painting
2 – 5 p.m.: Dunk Tank benefitting the Bexley Community Foundation ($1 suggested donation)
Noon – 4 p.m.: Music from Bexley’s own Dr. Lava, spinning hits from the ’50s through today
5 – 7 p.m.: Live concert by the Shazzbots! – a high-energy, family-friendly rock band (our family favorite!)
7 – 9 p.m.: Evening music (performer TBA)

Anniversary Specials

To celebrate the milestone, Johnson’s is bringing back two nostalgic flavors—Pistachio and Chocolate Almond—available at all locations. Guests can also enjoy $4.75 pints and floats at all nine Central Ohio shops on September 6.
