Cinco de Mayo celebrates the victory over France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 – not Mexico’s Independence Day (Sept 16), as many think. The holiday isn’t widely celebrated in Mexico, but has become quite the Americanized holiday.

This year, Cinco de Mayo falls on Monday, May 5, 2025 so it’s a good way to celebrate the end of the weekend!
