With the advent of quality cellphone cameras and sharing photos on social media, gone are the days of carrying around a separate camera to take pictures and having photos printed. I miss having actual photo prints and albums, so with the birth of my child, I’ve made it a goal to print photos (lots of photos) to have in albums and picture frames.
I usually take photos with my Nikon 5100, but it takes weeks for me to get stuff uploaded and edited, and then uploaded and printed by Shutterfly or Walgreens, and sometimes I forget to do this with the pictures on my iPhone camera. Groovebook Photo App allows you to upload 100 photos each month to be printed in a photo book for $2.99 per month, including shipping. That is about $.03 per print, which is way cheaper than the typical $.08 – $.15 at photo labs. I would say that the photos are decent quality. I have an iphone and they don’t take the best pictures in lower lighting anyway, so no matter where I’ve had photos printed, I’m sometimes disappointed with the quality of iphone pics. Its still nice to have all of your photos in order for each month in a book, and you could always get reprints of the photos that you love at another lab.
Each month after you upload your 100 pictures, you’ll receive a 4.5″ x 6.5″ photobook with your pictures printed on glossy photo paper and are perforated for easy removal. You can also choose multiples of specific photos (perfect for giving to others), up to 100 prints total, or you can send additional photo books to family and friends (great for grandparents or photos of special events). Gift subscriptions are available for $35 per year.
One month after you complete your first book, you’ll be due to order another, but you can cancel at anytime. If you don’t upload at least 40 pictures before your monthly due date, you won’t receive a book but will be charged the $2.99 subscription cost.
