The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is honoring those who protect and care for our communities (and their guests) with free admission at the Columbus Zoo for First Responders and Public Safety Appreciation Days AND Healthcare Professionals Appreciation Days from December 26, 2021 – January 2, 2022!
It’s a great time to visit the Zoo and check out the Wildlights, as the crowds are smaller after Christmas!

First Responders and Public Safety Appreciation Days
December 26, 2021 -January 2, 2022. All current and retired first responders and public safety personnel, plus immediate family up to 5 guests can get in free to the Zoo and for Wildlights from 10 a.m. to close, from December 26 – January 2! The holidays can be a tough time in these professions for the employees and families, so they deserve a FREE day of fun at the Zoo.
Personnel who qualify for free admission at the Columbus Zoo for First Responders and Public Safety Appreciation Days
- Firefighters, EMT’s and paramedics
- Uniformed police officers, state troopers, border patrol agents, deputies
- Criminal investigators, investigators, evidence technicians, firearms examiners, crime lab technicians
- 911 dispatchers
- Corrections officers, hand writing examiners, intelligence analysts, and investigative assistants
Parking is still $10 per car, unless a current Columbus Zoo member in the car presents a membership card.
A valid fire, photo, or emergency services identification must be presented at the Zoo’s ticket window to receive the First Responder and Public Safety Appreciation offer. Badges and credentials are only accepted if presented with a photo I.D.
All I.D.’s must show proof of the department of employment; government-only issued I.D.’s won’t be accepted as proof.
Healthcare Professionals Appreciation Days
December 26, 2021 -January 2, 2022 are also Healthcare Professionals Appreciation Day. Current and retired healthcare professionals and their immediate family (up to 5 guests) can get free admission from 10 am – close.
Qualified personnel include surgeons, physicians, therapists, nurses, CNA’s, pharmacists, optometrists, paramedics, EMT’s, dietitians, pathologists, family practitioners, phlebotomists, vet techs, chiropractors, psychiatrists, nurse’s aides, medical assistants, and more.
A valid healthcare I.D. must be presented at the Zoo’s ticket window. The number of tickets may be limited due to capacity limitations.
