The 2010 Can-Am Police-Fire Games will be held from August 15-22, 2010, in Dublin, Ohio. This event, held every 2 years throughout the US and Cananda, will bring nearly 1,000 police, fire, and law enforcement officials representing 38 states and provinces and 9 countries, to compete in 45 Olympic-style competitions. Some of the events to be held throughout Central Ohio include: K-9; Biathlon/Cycling; Weight Lifting/Rifle; Skyscraper Climb; Texas Hold ‘em; Tug-O-War; Track & Field; and others.
The weeklong event kicks off with the free Opening Ceremonies on Sunday, August 15, 2010, from 4:30 – 9 p.m. at Coffman Park. Activities will include touch-a-truck, police cars, motorcycles & EMS vehicles, SWAT displays, antique fire engines, a free concert by Phil Dirt and the Dozers, inflatables for the kids, Medflight & Ohio State Patrol helicopters, a police K9 Demo, a Police vs. Fire tug-o-war, Cyrill-Scott Pipes & Drums, Washington Twp. Color Guard, a Welcome from Mayor Tim Lecklider, singing of the National Anthem, and food and drink.
Think you can compete against the big boys? After the Police vs. Fire Tug-of-War, community groups of 6-8 people will have the chance to take on the Police or Fire teams for a donation. Gather folks from your softball team, PTO, high school football team, or other group to tug it out with the Police or Fire team. All proceeds for events held that week benefit MDA and “Get Behind the Badge”—a local org that supports families of fallen police officers.
Bring the family to check out these competitions throughout the week and to cheer on these heroes from around the world! Check out the website for more details and the schedule!
