The Dublin Irish Festival is coming up on August 6-8, 2010 (where did the summer go??), so get that kilt out of your closet! Experience a three day celebration of all things Irish in Coffman Park with one of the country’s largest Irish Festival. Try a pint of Dublin Irish Festival Stout (or 4) and enjoy food from the many vendors while watching Irish music and dance on one of several stages. There will be vendors selling traditional Irish wares in the Irish Marketplace and well as the Wee Folk Area for Children to keep them happy between elephant ears.
Does this sound like a plan? Well, the Dublin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has put together a great Dublin Irish Festival getaway package for you! Whether you’re coming into the Columbus area from out of town or you’re a local and just want to be safe after drinking all of those pints, this package will get you a place to stay, ½ priced tickets to the Dublin Irish Festival, and depending on the hotel, shuttles to and from the festival! My first visit to the Dublin Irish Festival was last year. I was in awe of the community turn out! Residents from all over the Columbus area come together to enjoy this event. There are a variety of activities, including a Wee Folk area with games for the little ones.
The food is unbelievable! You have the opportunity to taste many an Irish delicacy, as well as a number of Columbus favorites (i.e. Jeni’s Ice Cream, Schmidt’s).
The main events are the musical performances. Groups from the US and Ireland come together to perform authentic Irish music that really adds to the feel of the festival. This year the festival will welcome back Gaelic Storm, Natalie MacMaster and Saw Doctors. There are also some exciting new additions to the line-up, Lunasa, Luka Bloom and Moya Brennan.
So grab your friends and family and head to the Dublin Irish Festival. It is not to be missed.
